• Someone reads a story: “Ever since this world has existed, a magical, everlasting fog has surrounded the mountains of Sierra Plateada. A few villages managed to thrive, however, its people did not dare to venture too far on their own. One day, a dragon attacked one of those villages where a young man lived. Against all odds, he stepped valiantly to confront it, saving his little town. After that, his fate would change forever, traveling deeper into the the fog to uncover its mysteries. For he went on his way to become the greatest adventurer ever, Alfonzo the Conqueror!”. A silhouette turns the page on their book, they say: “Man, isn't he the coolest?”.
  • “You liked it, too? Me too! It’s my favorite.” said the boy to his sheep. He’s a brown-skinned, white haired boy. He’s wearing a green poncho, beige pants and a pair of boots. He says: “Another quiet, uneventful day at home. “Taking a cozy nap, nothing interesting to look at.” Facing the vast mountain range in front of him. His gaze shifts upon a much larger mountain, surrounded by clouds near its peak. He says: “Except for that big ol’ mountain over there. I’ll be the next adventurer to conquer it! I’ll be the best there ever was!”
  • The boy shouts with passion: “I’ll be Nate, the conqueror of the forbidden mountain! Slayer of beasts! King of sheeps!”. He hurls a pebble into the horizon, flying far, far away. It hits a nearby mountain. Inmediatedly after, a large piece of the mountain falls. He says: “Whoa! What was that? I gotta take a look!”.
  • Nate yells to his mother at home: “Mom! I’m going on adventure”. She replies “Bring some milk when you’re back!”. Nate doesn’t pay attention as he walks into a small cliff to get a better view. He says “I wonder what’s over there? A secret cave, maybe? Dang... I can barely see a thing with this thick fog!” The cliff Nate is standing breaks, making him fall.
  • Cover of the first chapter. A frozen frame of Nate falling off the cliff.
  • Nate falls down a bumpy cliffside, until he falls face first onto the ground. Painfully, he only manages to say “Ow...”
  • In the middle of the fog, Nate quickly gets up and asks himself: “Ugh... Where am I? I can’t see a thing! Seems like it’s true what they say about the fog...”. Nate pulls out his book and says: “Let’s see if there’s any advice here.” The book page shows a picture of a suspiciously similar looking boy to him and reads “Many have became lost and died in the fog... They have wandered aimlessly before finding home.” Nate brushes this off saying “Thank god I’m not one of them!”. He sees a silhouette a couple meters away. “I see something in the distance... Is it who I think they are?”.
  • A young man walks past Nate. Nate yells at him “Hey! Hello! Howdy!”. He turns around to look at Nate, but he ignores him and keeps going on his way. Nate insists yelling at him. “’Sup! Hola! Usted me escucha? Yo!! Can’t you hear me?”. Nate walks right in front of him and greets him: “Oh, it’s you, Vincent! How are you?”. He’s a brunette, tan man wearing a red jacket, carrying a bag. He says to Nate: “Hey, aren’t you the weird kid from the llama’s farm?”. Nate quickly corrects him, proudly saying: “No! I’m the weird kid from the sheep’s farm!”
  • Nate asks Vincent: “Are you still doing soul-crushing and unfullfilling errands?”. Vincent is upset by this question and bluntly replies “Yes.” Nate asks him “Can I come?”. Vincent again replies with just a “No.” But regardless, Nate ends up tagging along with him as they walk down a road in the mountains. Nate asks “So, what’s the big errand about? Off to find some treasure? Going to rescue someone?” Vincent replies: “A lunch delivery” Nate asks “Oh, where to?”
  • Vincent points to the large mountain in the distance. Nate jumps on top of Vincent and yells: “Oh I see! You’re paying tribute to the mountains!” Vincent replies: “No you, idiot! Get off of me!”. Pointing at a small outpost he says “It’s for the Pathfinders’ sentry”. A friendly guard is awaiting them. He’s wearing light armor, with small shoulderpads and gloves, as well as a wide brim hat. He says “Vincent! You’re finally here! I’m starving!” Vincent says, as if in a hurry: “Yeah, yeah, here you go.” The guard tells Vincent: “Be sure to head back to Faulkner in case he needs anything else!”. Vincent is barely paying attention. Nate asks the guard: “Where does this path take to?”. He replies “It’s an unexplored road to the mountains. Nobody knows yet what’s ahead”.
  • As Nate and the guard look into the mountains, he explains: “We’ve made quite a bit of progress in the last couple months. But we had to fall back a little.” Nate asks: “Why is that?”. The guard continues: “Oh, that damned fog has just been getting thicker every day. That didn’t seem to stop adventurers and merchants from trying their luck. After all, there’s a lot of valuable ores... oh, and the occassional abandoned treasure but...”. Nate, full of excitement, cuts him off and yells: “Treasure, you say!? That’s all I needed to hear!”. Before Nate can make a run for it, the guard grabs him by his poncho. “Sorry, little friend, Only Pathfinders can walk past this road. It’s for your safety! That’s why I’m here!”. He turns to Vincent and whispers: “Vincent, take this boy back home, Let’s not get in trouble for keeping him in here.” Vincent reluctantly agrees. “...Fine.”
  • Nate points at something behind them to distract them. “Look over there! A giant hummingbird!” The guard and Vincent turn around. He says “Hey, you don’t see one of those everyday.” Vincent replies: “I dunno... I like toucans more.” The guard turns around to see Nate running away and says “Aw, crap.” Vincent ignores the situation and walks away as the guard says “We gotta get him back!” He pulls Vincent by his jacket and says to him “And you’re coming with me!” Vincent protests: “Why? that’s your job!”. The guard says “’Cause Everett will kill me if he gets harmed! So, let’s go!”.
  • Nate is standing further down the unexplored road. There’s a small house nearby, by the road. Nate is panting from running. He says “Hah... I made it! I think I lost them...” He sees the house and says “How convenient! A house in the middle of the road!” He tries knocking into the door: “Hello? Anybody home?”. He turns the doorknob, and the door opens.
  • Nate enters the small house. Inside it, there’s a few things laying around. all abandoned: A pile of hay, a mirror, a bookcase and a table with a scarf on it. He sees the scarf and tries it on. “Looking good!” he says. As he lays in the pile of hay, he starts wondering: “Hm, okay, how would I get to the top of the mountain now?”
  • Somoene gently knocks on the door. Nate asks himself: “Have they found me already? Nah... I don’t think Vincent would knock like that... It’s safe to answer.” Nate tells the person outside: “Um... come in?”. The door is slammed open and a young woman yells “Someone help! It’s an emergency!” She’s a blonde, pale girl with curly hair, wearing a jacket and a winter hat. Nate replies: “Argh! One word at a time!”
  • The girl calms down and tries explaining her situation to Nate. “Um... okay. Friend... Fell...” However, she explodes and starts yelling again. “Cliff! Injured! Died! Giant rock! She’s going to die and it’s my fault!!”. Nate yells back “Slower!”. She explains: “My friend and I were... hiking around to... take photos! A giant piece of rock fell down. Almost as if the mountain itself was cut in half!” She fell in the rift opened by that! Please, do you know who can help me?”. Nate stands up and adopts a heroic pose. He says: “Fear not, my friend... “. A small silence ensues. The girl replies: “Marissa.” Nate quickly resumes his speech: “Marissa! I, Nate, the adventurer will rescue your friend!”. Marissa is a bit confused by his claim and asks: “Um... you are an adventurer?”
  • Nate thinks to himself, full of delusions of grandeur. “Yes! I can be just like Alfonzo!”. Nate shrugs his arm in a confident manner and replies to Marissa: “Of course!”. They are interrupted by a loud knocking at the door. Nate tells Marissa: “Uh-oh! This time it’s them for sure!” Marissa, confused, asks: “Tax collectors?”. Nate orders her: “We gotta get outta here!”. Outside the house, Vincent and the guard stand. He tells Vincent: “So, basically I’m staying all day on sentry duty to not get visits from tax collectors...” Vincent replies: “Man... just get an accountant”.
  • The guard slams the door open. He yells: “Alright, that’s enough!” A cardboard cutout of Nate stands in front of them. He has a smile on his face. The guard calls out: “There you are, rascal!”. Vincent says: “It’s just a cutout...”. The guard says: “In that case... We will need reinforcements!”. Vincent is completely zoned out of the situation. Outside the house, Nate and Marissa run away from them. Marissa asks Nate: “Was it really necessary to leave these back?”. Nate replies: “Yes! It’s fun!”. They stop themselves for a second. Nate asks himself: “Wait a second...”
  • Nate asks Marissa: “So, Marissa, where did your friend get lost?”. Marissa stutters to answer him: “It was... um...”. Marissa points over a far away mountain and says: “Over there! No, wait, that’s not it...”. She points to another mountain. “It was over there!”. Nate says: “It looks exactly the same!”. Marissa shuffles around and says: “Nu-uh! It’s whiter, don’t you see?”. She confesses to Nate: “I’m sorry, Nate, I have no idea...”. Nate becomes anxious and says: “No! It means we’re lost too! Are we going to spend the rest of our days here?”. He drops to the ground, unable to handle the stress. “My adventure can’t be over so soon! Will there be no more fun? No more mama’s delicious apple pie?”. Marissa sits next to him, defeated.
  • The guard and Vincent catch up to Nate and Marissa. The guard says: “Aha! Finally found you two! Time to go home boy. Come on, let’s get going.” Vincent takes a look at Nate and turns to the guard, grabbing his baton from his belt. Vincent says to him: “Buddy, sorry I’m not sorry.” Then, he smacks the guards head from behind, knocking him out. Nate exclaims, surprised: “What!?”
  • Vincent tells Nate: “Honestly, I’m sick of not getting anything fun to do around here. Come on, Nate, do you want to find some treasure, too? I’m in!”. Marissa interrupts VIncent and says: “And save my friend, too!”. Vincent replies “What? Whatever, then.” Nate looks at the guard laying face down, unconscious. He says: “Now that he’s knocked out there’s no hurry, right?” Vincent answers Nate: “Actually, he just called reinforcements. We gotta scram”. As Nate walks past the guard, he takes a look at his hat and picks it up for himself. As he picks it up, he says “Cool hat!”.
  • After walking a bit further, Marissa asks Vincent: “Hey, um...”. Vincent is confused as to who she is talking to. Marissa continues: “Friend... do you think we lost them?”. Vincent replies: “We’re in the clear, chill. What are you talking about?”. They hear the rumble of many guards coming to chase them. Vincent says: “Well, shit. New plan.” He points to a cliff and says to Nate and Marissa: “We gotta jump over that cliff! It’s the only way!”.
  • Marissa, doubtful, asks Vincent about his plan: “Do we really have to jump? I had a bad day with these...” Vincent pressures Nate and Marissa to jump and yells at them: “Just jump!”. Marissa and Nate clumsily fall down as Vincent watches amused. He says: “Hahaha! Idiots.” As he finishes his sentence, the cliff beneath him crumbles and he also falls down clumsily. Nate and Marissa land on a soft bush, while Vincent lands on a bush full of thorns.
  • Nate gets up and tells Vincent: “Your painful plan has worked, Vincent! We lost them!”. Marissa remarks: “Or maybe they gave up knowing that we’re not worth the trouble...”. Reassuring himself, Nate restates: “We lost them!”. Vincent looks around and finds a small piece of paper laying on the ground. He says: “Hey, there’s a map here!” Marissa quickly says: “That’s my map!”. Vincent replies: “You had a map this whole time!?” Marissa answers: “Yeah! But I can’t understand it!”. Vincent takes a closer look. After a second, he tells Marissa: “It’s upside down.” Marissa says: “Oh, so that’ explains everything!”. Vincent says: “Not enough...”
  • Nate picks up the map. He says: “Ah yes, yes, this map clears up everything... It has never been more obvious where to go next. Where do we have to go now?”. Marissa points to him in the map. “Petit mountain!” Nate yells, after seeing the location. He motivates his newly met friends and commands them: “Alright, gang! Let’s go!”.
