Nate's Journey - 11

As Nate and the guard look into the mountains, he explains: “We’ve made quite a bit of progress in the last couple months. But we had to fall back a little.” Nate asks: “Why is that?”. The guard continues: “Oh, that damned fog has just been getting thicker every day. That didn’t seem to stop adventurers and merchants from trying their luck. After all, there’s a lot of valuable ores... oh, and the occassional abandoned treasure but...”. Nate, full of excitement, cuts him off and yells: “Treasure, you say!? That’s all I needed to hear!”. Before Nate can make a run for it, the guard grabs him by his poncho. “Sorry, little friend, Only Pathfinders can walk past this road. It’s for your safety! That’s why I’m here!”. He turns to Vincent and whispers: “Vincent, take this boy back home, Let’s not get in trouble for keeping him in here.” Vincent reluctantly agrees. “...Fine.”
